Join a group of like-minded travelers and local islander crew to set off on an adventure of a lifetime through the remote islands in northern Palawan.

Often referred to as the best travel experience in the Philippines, Tao is the original island hopping expedition between El Nido and Coron.

Travel between El Nido and Coron

Escape the usual touristy island hopping destinations around El Nido and Coron and travel with us off the beaten path by boat, road and foot deep into the islands of West Busuanga, Linapacan and Daracouton Bay.

Overnight Accommodations

Stay overnight in our off grid bamboo basecamps. Each one has its own personality, a sheltered cove, a wild jungle, a community homestay or a typhoon wrecked boutique resort.

There are 16 in total so no two trips are the same.

Food and Drinks

We are passionate about the food we serve. Native fruits and vegetables from our farms, fresh caught Seafood and occasionally some homegrown pork. Vegetarian and Vegans can enjoy the numerous plant based dishes. There is always plenty for everyone to eat.

Help yourself to Tea, coffee and drinking water. Alcohol and other drinks are available at additional cost from the bar.

Activities and things to do

There are hundreds of islands to explore, jump overboard to snorkel the coral reefs, swim to the islands and check out the beach, or stay onboard and read your book, its up to you. Help out in the kitchen, chat with the local crew and get to know your shipmates.

The Tao Experience is a social gathering but also with the space to find time to be by yourself and enjoy getting away from it all.

Each expedition group has a wide mix of ages, nationalities, and backgrounds to make for an interesting, diverse, and vibrant atmosphere on-board and in the basecamps.

We welcome adventurous travelers looking to disconnect from the noise of the modern world, reconnect with nature, and be inspired by new perspectives.

Going off the beaten track means being prepared.

Make sure that you and everyone in your group has read the ’10 Tips to Prepare for your Tao Experience’, which includes a detailed packing list of everything you will need to bring.

We can’t promise perfect weather.

October to May is Amihan (meaning northeastern winds) where temperatures hover around 30 degrees and you can expect it to be mostly dry. That said, our trips run year round (except August and September) and we think the odd tropical downpour is all part of the experience.

No need for cash.

You’ll be given a cashless bracelet to pay for cocktails, massages and anything you want to buy in our community shop, like homemade coconut oil or Kwang Loong (our recommended brand of bug repellent). You can even use it to pay your crew tip.

Don't miss Check-in & Briefing.

Guests are required to check in at the Tao Office at their starting point any day before their trip. Our offices are open from 8:00 to 20:00 everyday.

Present a valid ID (passport, driver’s license) upon checking in.

When you check in you will be given the time of your briefing, usually in the evening before departure.
It is important to attend the briefing so that you can meet the crew and Expedition leader who give you an orientation and plan for the next days and make any last minute preparations. This means that you can get going early on the first day of your trip and make the most out of your time with Tao.

We strongly advise that you attend the briefing however you will need to inform us if you will not be able to check-in.
We do not recommend staying out of town or on an island resort the night before departure so that you can attend the briefing.
