It started with a spontaneous exploration on an old fishing boat.

Years of hopping around remote islands and living with different communities led a Filipino explorer, Edi (Founder), to create a unique experience of island culture and hospitality in the Philippines.

Tao was founded in 2006, as a homestay concept. Edi, Jack (Co-founder), and a collective of skilled islanders boarded the Aurora and hosted expeditions between Coron and El Nido. Word of these adventures spread and quickly turned Tao into a cultish treasure map for travelers from around the world.

Over the years, our tribe has grown bigger and stronger. We’ve found our favourite hideaways, far from tourist crowds. We no longer go to family homes but we’ve built communal spaces for our families to come learn and work. We’re able to use tourism not just for exploration but as a tool for human development.
