Tourism should benefit both the visitor and the host alike, hence TaoPhilippines tries to give back to the remote communities we visit.
We have initiated a number of social welfare projects, which directly help the people in our communities. These projects are mainly in our home base of El Nido, and include a weekly feeding program in the poorest part of the town, the provision of free school supplies, the sponsorship of the local football team's kit, and financial assistance of medical costs for those most in need. However TaoPhilippines is not a showcase of these projects. It is not charity tourism. We will never run out of opportunities for volunteers to get involved, but do not expect us to march up to the home of someone who has received a helping hand so a guest can see 'welfare project' written on their tshirt. It is unfortunate that on the rare occasion a guest may misunderstand this, but we would ask that if this is your intention, please do not expect that gratification.
This is not a tour!!!
