Monsoon Refreshments!

Here in Palawan, the next four months until October will see the rains and typhoons roaring overhead...
The shifting coastline, massive inland rain deposition and discharge will all affect the village site, which has been developed slowly over the past 20 years to accomodate the considerable topographical shifts that occur during this yearly cycle. During these months, a deep drainage channel is carved into the sand out of the rainforest and down to meet the seawater offshore, explaining one of the functions of the stilted legs of the nipa's here. Both island and village benefit from this time, as vegetation flourishes and allows seed production for the following year, and the site emerges cleansed. Bring on the rain!
