Located behind the extensive mangrove swamps to the south of the Bacuit Bay, TaoPhilippines recently acquired a small farmstead, previously used to cultivate rice, pineapples, santoll and coconuts...
A recent site survey led to further discussion of many exciting possibilities and potential projects, and ongoing discussions with the experienced subsistence farmers from the surrounding area reveals that many of the suggestions are viable. Hence next year we intend to use the paddies to grow our own rice and plant extra crop trees to include mango, avocado, papaya and neem. Then over the coming years we will see the reestablishment of the pineapple grove, and a hot bathing pool to utilise the geothermically heated water veins that bubble up through the silica pans around the centre of the site.
A farm in the mangroves - Permaculture possibly?
